Sixteen New Troopers To Be Commissioned
 Cheyenne The Wyoming Highway Patrol Safety and Training Division is always looking for qualified recruits to fill the ranks of Trooper within the Highway Patrol.  There are currently 207 authorized uniformed officer positions within the Patrol. 
 On February 22nd, 2008, sixteen Trooper recruits will be assigned to vacant positions across the state after graduation ceremonies.  The commissioning ceremonies will be held at 10:00 a.m. in Cheyenne at Little America. 
The recruits will take an oath of office to be administered by one or more of the Wyoming Supreme Court Justices.  Guest speakers will include Wyoming Department of Transportation Administrator John Cox and Wyoming Highway Patrol Colonel Sam Powell. 
 To get to this point in their new career the recruits have taken pre-employment written exams and oral interviews, physical agility testing, psychological reviews and background checks.  They have successfully completed a physical exam and gone through medical tests.  Finally, the recruits have successfully completed 25 weeks of intensive instruction in Wyoming laws, physical training, marksmanship, and other courses.
 After they arrive at their new duty station the recruits must serve a one-year probationary period.  The recruits will fill vacancies in the following locations:
             Buffalo            Laramie          Douglas          Big Piney       Rawlins (2)
            Jackson          Lander (2)      Gillette (3)      Wamsutter     Lusk
            Farson            Lyman
