79 Pounds of High Grade BC Bud marijuana Seized
Cheyenne The driver of a speeding car remains incarcerated at the Laramie County Detention Facility in Cheyenne but not for his speeding violation.
Shortly after 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 24th, a Trooper stopped a vehicle on eastbound Interstate 80 approximately 10 miles west of Cheyenne for speeding 80 mph in the 75 mph zone.
The Chevrolet rental vehicle was being driven by 32 year-old Mena Agustin from Fresno, California.
While the Trooper was contacting Agustin at his drivers door the Trooper could smell the overwhelming odor of marijuana emitting from inside the vehicle.  The Trooper examined the interior of the vehicle more closely and located several duffle bags with marijuana inside in the rear cargo are and the rear floorboard of the vehicle.
Troopers confiscated and removed all the duffle bags from the vehicle and weighed the packages inside.  A final tally of the total weight of the marijuana came to 79 pounds.
Agustin has been charged in Laramie County with felony possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
Troopers have requested assistance from the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation’s Southeast Enforcement Team.  Special Agents and Troopers continue to investigate this illegal transportation of marijuana.  It has been determined that Agustin was enroute from Fresno, California and his final destination was Aurora, Illinois.
This particular grade of marijuana had a street value of approximately $632,000.00.  Marijuana prices are wide-ranging because of factors such as the buyer-seller relationship, the quantity purchased, the purchase frequency, and the market's distance to the source.
In 2007 Wyoming Highway Patrol Troopers statewide seized a total of 752 pounds of marijuana in traffic stops across the State with an estimated street value of $1,448,065.00.
